Description:

The Quebec Cancer Foundation supports people with cancer and their loved ones throughout Quebec. It offers information, support, accommodation, emotional support, and wellness services, free of charge or at low cost, to improve quality of life during and after treatment.

The Quebec Cancer Foundation is a non-profit organization that:

  • supports people with cancer and their loved ones at all stages of the disease;
  • provides accommodation near treatment centers;
  • provides reliable information from oncology professionals;
  • offers emotional and psychosocial support services;
  • provides complementary therapies to promote well-being;
  • reduces barriers to care through specialized programs.

The Foundation is present in several regions of Quebec and is an essential resource for people affected by cancer.

Services offered

Info‑Cancer

  • A hotline staffed by oncology nurses who can answer questions about the illness, treatments, and side effects.
  • A confidential and free service for patients, their loved ones, and professionals.
  • Nutritionists, psychologists, and sexologists available to provide specialized support to individuals affected by cancer.
  • Info‑Cancer Library: documentation, book lending, and assistance with information research.
Emotional support
  • Telephone peer matching with a volunteer who has had a similar experience (for patients and loved ones).
    Listening, support, and referrals to appropriate resources.

Accommodation

Low-cost accommodation near radiation oncology centres in several cities in Quebec. Services include:

  • comfortable rooms;
  • meals;
  • on-site support;
  • wellness activities.

Complementary therapies

Offered depending on the centre:

  • massage therapy;
  • yoga;
  • guided meditation;
  • art therapy;
  • kinesiology;
  • acupuncture.

These services are designed to reduce stress, improve comfort, and support quality of life.

Financial and legal assistance
  • Financial assistance (PAVQ): last-resort assistance for people with cancer living below the low-income threshold (up to $1,000/year, maximum 2 years).
    Legal assistance: Free legal services offered in partnership with Juripop for low-income individuals.

Administrative assistance: Support in understanding existing financial programs and completing certain procedures.

  • Programme à Félix: support for young adults aged 15 to 39 with cancer.
  • Corporate Support Program: awareness and support for workplaces.
  • Resource directory: online tool for finding services throughout Quebec.
