Registration is required. Form on website. For women who have finished active treatment (chemo, radiation, surgery) for breast cancer.

Description:

Taking Charge: Healthy LIFEstyle Choices after Breast Cancer involves small groups and personalized guidance. Currently offered virtually using Zoom.

The goal is to educate women about a healthier diet and physical activity choices that will have a positive influence on their overall health and may decrease the risk of a recurrence.

Exciting research suggests dietary change and physical activity, in association with weight loss, may reduce risk of recurrence. It also improves overall health - an important consideration given the long survival of many women with breast cancer.

Program staff include:

  • Nurse Clinician Linda Muraca, the program coordinator/facilitator
  • Janet Greenglass-Kosky, B.A., B.A.A. Nutritionist, who presents nutritional strategies;
  • Lee Scott, B.A.Sc., M.A., the founder of Wow Power Walking. Lee has been certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) as a personal trainer and Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant. She is also certified by Can-Fit-Pro as a Fitness Instructor Specialist. 
  • Geremy Capone - Wellness Chef at ELLICSR 

Participants of the program receive a binder with useful information and logbooks where they can record their dietary and physical activities. They will also receive useful equipment they can use during the program  exercise band, walking program CD/DVD etc.
