Local groups provide much needed face-to-face support for men and their families in their own communities. Groups generally hold monthly meetings, provide special educational events, outreach programs and presentations to service clubs, community health fairs and more for the general public.

Group members and leaders do not give medical information but freely share their own stories. They participate in discussions led by medical experts who share knowledge about treatment options and advances in care.

Although prostate cancer is a health issue that affects men, it can have a huge impact on the family unit. Some groups will organize special meetings for partners to share their own experiences as they cope with the disease.

While there are both small and large groups depending on location, the common goal is the desire to help educate men about the need for early detection and to ease the journey for those diagnosed.
