Art Therapy
Eligibility
Must be Living with Cancer to participate
Description:
Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy utilizing a variety of art media as a primary means of communication. The emphasis is placed on healing, personal insight, and enhancement of the participant's well-being. This program uses art modalities, such as painting, sculpting and mixed media, to raise and address cancer-related issues. Participants are encouraged to share their experience about the art and creative process. No prior experience in art is required.
Wellspring Niagara provides a variety of art therapy programs that target specific populations (i.e. patients, caregivers, metastatic cancer, among others), to better meet the needs of our members. The length of the programs varies (i.e... series, workshop).
Art therapy is facilitated by an art therapist in a safe and welcoming space. No prior experience or art-related talent is required. Prior to attending the program, the facilitator will contact you by phone to introduce themselves, provide information about the program, and answer any questions.
