Rainbow Health Ontario
Description:
Rainbow Health Ontario (RHO) works to ensure 2SLGBTQ+ communities receive equitable, affirming health care across Ontario.
Research shows that the health of 2SLGBTQ+ people is often compromised by stigma, discrimination, invisibility and a lack of cultural and clinical competence within the healthcare system. Belonging to a sexual and/or gender minority is linked to higher rates of depression, anxiety and cancer, as well as behaviours driven by minority stress, like substance use and avoidance of care. These inequities in access, quality, inclusivity and satisfaction are not isolated—they are persistent and entrenched in the Canadian healthcare system.
RHO exists to change that.
We support systemic change in health care by training providers, creating evidence-based resources, influencing policy and amplifying 2SLGBTQ+ health research. Our team is made up of 2SLGBTQ+ people with lived experience, clinical knowledge and a deep understanding of the healthcare system. This shapes every training, resource and consultation we offer—making our work grounded, relevant and community-informed.
