African Cancer Support Group
Description:
The African Cancer Support Group (ACSG) is support group for cancer patients, survivors, and caregivers for Africans, Caribbean and Black Canadians, and we support all types of cancers. The organization was created to support cancer patients, survivors, and their families in ways that are culturally appropriate and meet their unique needs.
The organization provides support through services like a food pantry, delivering meals, organizing home cleaning, and offering holiday turkey drives. It also connects patients with counselors who are cancer survivors themselves, ensuring they feel supported by people who understand the cancer journey. Volunteers visit and call patients at home and in hospitals to bring comfort and companionship. ACSG raises awareness about cancer at events like African cultural festivals, expos, and community gatherings. We also celebrate cancer survivors every June with an annual event to honor their strength and resilience.
Above all, ACSG is about building a caring community where no one faces cancer alone. It brings people together to share hope, strength, and resilience.
