Prostate Cancer Network Group - Waterloo - Wellington

Prostate Cancer Foundation Canada
Support groups

Description:

Meetings are held in-person at the Rockway Centre, 1405 King St. E., Kitchener and hosted for those who want to join online on Zoom. For more information, please visit our website.

Our local prostate cancer support group provides much needed face-to-face support for men and their families in their own communities as well online resources and opportunities to connect with others facing prostate cancer. Our support groups holds monthly support meetings, provide special educational events (typically part of our support meetings), outreach programs, and presentations to service clubs, community health fairs and more for the general public.

Our group members and leaders do not give medical information but freely share their own stories. They participate in discussions led by medical experts who share knowledge about treatment options and advances in care.

Although prostate cancer is a health issue that affects men, it can have a huge impact on the family unit. Some groups will organize special meetings for partners to share their own experiences as they cope with the disease.

While there are both small and large groups depending on location, the common goal is the desire to help educate men about the need for early detection and to ease the journey for those diagnosed.
