Cancer treatment programs
Description:
The Outpatient Medical Oncology program provides a comprehensive range of services which includes:
- Assessment of individuals with cancer and malignant hematology (cancers of the blood and bone marrow)
- Treatment, including chemotherapy
- Follow up and management of complex symptoms
- Information and education regarding treatment of cancer and management of side effects
- Supportive care
Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team that includes Medical Oncologists, Registered Oncology Nurses, a Nurse Practitioner, Oncology Pharmacists, Clinical Dietitian, Social Worker, and clerical staff. The team is supported by a dedicated group of hospital volunteers, laboratory, pharmacy and imaging staff and community partners.
The program also supports a once a month Radiation Oncology follow up clinic serviced by the Radiation Oncologists from the London Health Sciences Centre. GBHS does not offer radiation therapy.
