Description:
The Expand Project is starting non-judgmental conversations on commercial tobacco use and nicotine amongst queer and trans young adults. We offer free culturally informed smoking cessation services combined with mental health, free 4-week nicotine replacement therapy, quit coaches and a resource locator. We host bi-annual incentivized quit contests and community events and activities are hosted across 8 community partner cities across Canada.
We're partnered in and with the following cities and community organization:
Toronto, The 519 - Vancouver, Health Initiative for Men (HIM) - Montreal, Montreal LGBTQ+ Community Centre - Edmonton, Pride Centre of Edmonton + Queer and Trans Health Collective - Charlottetown, PEI Transgender Network + Our Landing Place - Winnipeg, Huddle - St. John's, Quadrangle, Thunder Bay, NorWest Community Health Centres.
The organizations offer various services some including mental health support, peer support, community activities or drop-in programming. They include commercial tobacco, nicotine focused support as well as other substance related support and referrals within their community health support networks.
We offer a 4-week free trial supply of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) in the following options:
- High Dose Patch (4 boxes of 21 mg) Consider if you smoke 10 or more entire cigarettes/day
- Low Dose Patch (4 boxes of 14 mg) Consider if you smoke less than 10 cigarettes/day OR if you smoke a few more than 10 cigarettes/day but don’t smoke your cigarettes entirely
- Fruit Flavoured Lozenge (4 boxes of 2 mg)
- Mint Flavoured Quick Mist 2 x 1 mg (300 sprays)
- Ultra Fresh Mint Flavoured Gum 2 mg (4 boxes of 2mg)
